Borrowing a machine can turn an unfamiliar hobby into a manageable experiment. Folsom Public Library lends Prusa Mini+ 3D printers for three weeks using an adult Folsom library card, allowing users to explore a project at home rather than buying a printer first.
Each kit includes the printer, PLA filament, small tools and a flash drive containing written and video instructions. The library’s current service page offers three ways to join the waitlist: place a catalogue hold, visit the front desk or call 916-461-6130. A hold is a place in the queue, not a promise of immediate availability.

Choose a small, noncritical object for a first attempt, then review the instructions before setting up. Ask staff about the current loan agreement, returning every component and obtaining help if something does not work as expected. Leave enough of the borrowing period to learn the process and pack the kit for return.
A useful first goal is understanding the path from a digital design to a physical object. Keep notes about what you tried and what you would change next time. Even an imperfect result can make a later project more realistic, while the short loan helps establish whether this is an activity you want to pursue further.
